Civil Law

At Nelsons we have extensive experience of dealing with all types of dispute resolution involving Scottish civil law.   From debt collection right through to large scale personal injury claims we are happy to have your instructions.   We pursue cases in any Court in Scotland.   Douglas Walker, in particular, has over 20 years of experience in litigation in all types of civil disputes including contractual disputes, road traffic accidents, personal injury accidents, partnership and corporate disputes as well as undertaking cases in other forums like the Children’s Hearing system.

In addition, Andy Bryson has acquired a solid reputation and is recognised as a sensitive and determined advocate for people with mental illnesses who require assistance in Mental Health Tribunals across central Scotland.

Distressing and confusing as they might be Mental Health Tribunals require patients to be represented where possible when decisions are being made about their future in a Mental Health Tribunal.   We can advise you on mental health detentions, treatments without consent and make representations at the Tribunal as well as in appeals thereafter.  We regularly attend at Hearings, Tribunals and hospitals across central Scotland.

We are more than happy to take civil court agency instructions by e-mail, fax, in writing or by telephone for the Ordinary Court or any other civil court proceedings.   We will appear to discharge Proofs or Debates, conduct Hearings by prior arrangement including Proofs and Debates.   We can, of course, uplift or lodge steps in process.   We have extensive experience of attending Taxation Diets and we will attend interim Hearings in cases such as interdicts or preliminary Hearings and preliminary Appeals under the new Children’s Act.”
